Ms. Natalie James

Discussion topics:

* review rules and routines

*What makes us special?  We will focus on the letter M for “Me”. Your child will participate in several name activities throughout the week.

*Who is important to you? Who is in your family?  Please send or e-mail in a family picture by Wednesday, September  20th. Your child will share their family picture with the class. The pictures will also be displayed in the classroom.

 What you can do at home?

* Read stories about families. Some suggestions: Who’s in My Family? By Robie Harris, A Chair for my Mother by Vera Williams, Families by Ann Morris, Owl Babies by Martin Waddell

* Practice your child’s name at home. If your child is not able to form the letters yet, write their name in a yellow marker and encourage your child to trace the letters. Check your child’s folder for a name activity we worked on in class.

*Encourage your child to practice writing the letter M. Find items in the house that begin with letter M.

*Play with measuring tools. Measuring tapes, spoons, and cups can be so much fun! Put different size measuring cups in the bath with your child during bath time. Ask your child which cup holds more/less?

* As you are working with your child on their family block talk about family memories as you look through family pictures.
