Reader's Workshop
We are learning to be the best readers we can be. We are focusing on letter-sound associations. Your child is learning letter sounds and how to stretch sounds into words. Children also have trick words on a word ring to practice at home.

Students book shop for 10 new books on Wednesdays. Please have your child read from his Book Baggie every night for about ten minutes and talk about the stories. Use picture clues to aid understanding. Be sure to retell your story in different ways to ensure comprehension. Thank you for putting your initials in your child's reading log.
*Readers, it is very important to take good care of your books and bring them to school each day!

Writer's Workshop:
We are learning what writers do.  Writers think, sketch pictures, label, write, and add details about their favorite things. Writers can write like scientists and describe what they see. Writers can tell true stories about things they do. Writers can write poems, too!

Students will have homework every Monday-Thursday. Homework typically consists of the page attached to today's lesson which reviews what we have just learned. Students are also encouraged to practice math facts on flash cards or by using the Xtramath program on the computer. You can also download the app onto your tablet.
