Welcome to Kindergarten!
Kindergarten is the gateway to reading, writing, numerical operations, and social development. I encourage your participation in all aspects of your child’s education. One most important step is to check and empty your child’s folder daily, as it will contain important notices, your child’s daily work, and homework. It is very important to review your child’s work and to discuss the activities of the day, as this reinforces the skills and concepts taught. Also, your child should complete homework, including reading, with a parent or other responsible adult, as this is a good indicator of how well your child is mastering skills and concepts that are taught. If you feel there is a problem or concern with your child’s progress, please contact me.

Don't forget to READ every night with your child!
Students will be bringing home a variety of stories to read throughout the year. Please be sure to read the story with your child and give him/her any assistance so that he/she doesn't become frustrated. It is always a good idea to check to make sure your child understands what he/she has read.
We will be working in Rigby leveled reading groups so that your child is being instructed at his/her reading level.
Students also read chorally and with a partner on most days with grade level materials.
Students also listen and respond to authentic stories during the language arts time.
- In math the next couple of weeks the students will be learning about colors, shapes, and numbers. Students will begin to count and write numbers!
- Math homework will be coming home every night except Fridays. It will be a worksheet found on the Return side of your child’s folder.
Homework: Check your child's folder each day for math homework and important papers. Also, please read every night with your child and fill out your child's reading folder.
